Florida property: finding a new build home
Looking for Florida property to buy is an exciting process: deciding on the décor, thinking about buying new furniture and adding the 'finishing touches' to make it your own. Before getting to that stage, however, you will probably have to visit a few different developments to pick the one that’s right for you. But how do you go about finding the right one in the first place?
1. Decide on the general area: do you want to be close to the coast or is a location close to the Disney theme parks more attractive?
2. Research on-line: a huge amount of information is available but take care – much of it is out of date. However, try the builders’ web sites for maps showing new home developments, base prices and property specifications. Vacation homeowners web sites (e.g. http://www.top-forums.com), local newspapers (e.g. http://www.orlandosentinel.com) and UK property exhibitions are additional resources.
3. Decide if you want to work with a Realtor or go it alone: you may find it simpler to use the services of a Realtor located in the area you plan to buy in. We’ve listed several advantages to using a Realtor (click here), but make sure that you find one who is prepared to understand and respect your requirements. Some buyers prefer the independent approach, although there are risks in making the wrong decisions due to inadequate knowledge or experience.
4. Visit the sites and decide which development is best for you. Looking at the show homes is great fun as not only will you be able to see different floor plans, but you will also get some ideas for decorating your own home.
